The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development of Canada (ISED) has previously issued a fee forecast, clarifying that the Canadian IC ID registration fee will be officially raised by 1.7% from April 1, 2026. This is another adjustment after the fee was raised by 2.7% on April 1, 2025, which directly affects the compliance cost of telecom terminal products with radio frequency and CS-03 standards entering the Canadian market. Relevant export enterprises need to make application arrangements and cost control in advance.

The scope and implementation time of the official increase in Canada

Range of increase: the IC ID registration fee is raised by 1.7%, which only involves the registration fee itself, and the tax standard and registration requirements remain unchanged;

Implementation time: From April 1, 2026, the adjusted new fee standard will be officially launched, and it will still be implemented at the original fee before;

Applicable products: all wireless RF products that need ISED certification and telecom/Terminal telecom terminal products that implement CS-03 standards are affected by this fee increase;

Policy attribute: ISED certification is a mandatory market access requirement for Canadian market, and IC ID registration is the core link of certification, and the increase in fees will be directly included in the export compliance budget of enterprises.

Comparison between old and new cost standards

1. Registration fee for new application: the original fee was $804.14, which was raised to $817.81 from April 1, 2026;

2. Registration fee for change application: the original fee was $402.07, which was raised to $408.91 from April 1, 2026;

Additional taxes and registration requirements

◆ Canadian local applicants: pay the corresponding taxes and fees according to the official standards of the province/region where the enterprise is located, and the tax rate is the same as in previous years;

◆ Non-Canadian local enterprises: You don't need to pay the above local taxes, but you must provide a letter of agency from Canada to complete the whole process of IC ID registration. Without the letter of agency, you will not be able to advance the registration application.

Corporate response suggestions

1. Assess the cost in advance: Enterprises planning to export to the Canadian market need to recalculate the product compliance cost, incorporate the increased registration fee into the export budget, and do a good job in cost control;

2. Grab the application window period: At present, it is the implementation period of the old fee standard before April 1, 2026. It is recommended that enterprises with certification needs start the IC ID registration application process as soon as possible, lock in the current fee standard, and avoid the cost increase caused by the fee increase;

3. Prepare the application materials: especially for non-Canadian local enterprises, they need to prepare the core materials such as the Canadian agency letter in advance to ensure the smooth progress of the application process and avoid delaying the application due to lack of information.

4. Pay close attention to policy trends: Pay close attention to the ISED certification-related policies and fee adjustment trends, adapt to the latest requirements in time, and avoid compliance risks.
